I am a brand new 1st gen Expedition owner. I have been lurking these boards and doing a lot of research online. As soon as I got it home, I realized that the running board lights stay on after the doors are closed and i the car is locked.

After some research, I tried the WD-40 trick first. No luck.

I also read a step by step guide to take the door panel apart and get inside to fix it.

But, the lights DO eventually turn off. Is this normal? Do they just take a long time to turn off?

Do the interior lights stay on too? Because it sure sounds like you have a bad door switch.

Double check your back hatch glass is shut. Happens to me (with kids) all the time.
