running rough

Runs like a shit pot in distress. Check engine lite on. Oriley checked said #4 misfire. At idle in gear feels like a miss. When accell it is rough cruising ok.

In the olden days I would look for a burned wire on the header or a bad spot in the cap, etc.

Help me help me. BTW 140 on clock. bought from orig owner....

Change #4 spark plug and check #4 coil on plug. Lots of videos on you tube on how to do this.

My '12 started out with a misfire on #7. Replaced the coil and plug; didn't fix it. After a lot of hair pulling turned out to be a cracked head. Warranty took care of all but $100 of a 4000$ repair bill.

What year and motor do you have? My 4.6 has the same symptoms and I suspect a leaking head gasket. I put some Bars Leak in it a couple months ago and it cleared it right up... for a couple months. Back to missing now. Currently debating my options.

But the first thing I'd do is spark plug, then if you have a 5.4 a coil on plug. If it's the 4.6 check your plug wire out.

5.4. In shop now. getting all of CNG removed. only a few hundred, then I will be able to spare back under truck once cng tank removed.
According to shop, 4 coil.
