Anyone have the shift interlock solenoid replaced? Or called the lock pawl solenoid? I got the shift sys fault. Code was p2888. Dealer is quoting 1350. Originally quoted 1850, but I noticed they were including a valve body replacement, but when I asked why that was there, they said “oh, let me check, maybe you don’t need that”. So, I thought the solenoid replacement was pretty easy? It’s a $40 part. Is it 6hrs of labor?

I hate this dealer. I was just thinking of trading in for a ‘25, but then trying to gouge me in service is so off putting. But maybe I’m wrong about this? Thoughts are appreciated.

If this solenoid is inside the transmission, they will have to drop the pan which means changing the fluid. If it were me, I'd have them change the filter, too. If your Expedition is a 2018-2022, I think I'd have them replace the valve body while they are in there. Some of the issues with these transmissions seem to be due to porosity in the aluminum used for the valve body and sloppy machining of the valve body.
