I found this for sale on my local CL, came off an Expy same as mine but doesn't have the brackets to mount it to the frame but I am sure I could fab those no problem. I would more than likely sand it down and paint it black bed liner as I like the textured look and mount a few nice lights in it- it's for sale for $50- what says the forum

I have been looking around online to see if I can find the ends, ultimately they just bolt on and I think I can see the holes in the sides where they would bolt on.
I was looking through Baker's albums at the 2000 he had (nice truck) and he had a similar one on his. I really liked the look.

That grill guard may not be the same width as your frame rails, you would need to fabricate the brackets for it out of 1\4" steel plate to mate to the outside edges. If you use the bolt holes for tow hooks, you would also need to bend the brackets at the mount point and drill the holes. There are plenty of GG brackets you can use as a template. You might even be able to just buy some replacement Aries etc and use them.

You also need some upper support. This can be as chincy as you're willing to risk, but having this shoved in to the radiator isnt going to be a good day. So the upper brackets should be quite strong braced against something quite strong. You could probably modify a flat pry bar or any other strong flat bar.

Then there's the refinishing. If it were me, I would take it somewhere to be blasted, primed and power coated or the equivalent with Duplicolor or Rustoleum.

Money wise it would still make sense and you would have a strong custom piece with a brand new paint job.

It came off an '01 and I have a '99 so they are the same, as far as I know they only bolt onto the frame and no where up top. I have seen a few (Bakers particularly) and his only bolted to the frame underneath

Gotcha, now that you mention it . . . that sounds right.

If it serves as a deck for lights or a step then it would still be worth it. I would be afraid of ever hitting anything with it.
