So around a month ago I lost the keys for my exp. and recently I replaced them.
Got the key along with a new battery and connections. Went to start it and it wouldn't turn over. There's a single click coming from under the dash along with the radio turning off at the same time of trying to turn the key. Checked the starter, all wires for something loose, cleaned pretty much all leads up. Just confused on what's going on at the moment. The truck is a 01 5.4l Expedition with around 190k on it.

Welcome to the site.

Give the start a good smack in the middle with a hammer and try again. Not trying to drive it to China!

Thanks for the reply. Tried that and no luck. Also the chime seems to rapidly beep upon turning the key.

Don't know whats going on there but if I lock the door with the remote but unlock it with the key ...... when I put the key in and turn it one notch I get all the dash lights and radio. Then when I twist the key one more notch to start it ... nothing happens except it doesn't start and the radio goes off. This is security lockout. The fix is to lock unlock doors with remote and then it will start. Your problem sounds worse but its easy so try that anyway.

I had a similar issue. Single click when trying to start, ended up being my starter. I could bridge the wires on the starter and make it start if someone was holding the key in the start position. That lasted a few weeks before the starter just went.

Maybe I phones are like dryers that eat that single sock, our op gets eaten, and sent to a mysterious place , where they can't get back! Like Alice falling in the rabbit hole!
