Panda maybe we can do the rest of Anderson on the 15th and then when nvy is back we can go to truck haven?

Tallsville are you still thinking about coming down?

On a side note... I can't wait to get this body lift installed, for 7 years I have been debating whether to lower or lift the thing and I finally made a decision. Of course I'll never be able to do anything too extreme offroad (2wd), but it will be nice to have more capability.

aww damn nvy! o well at least your gonna buy a house. thats great! but okay that sounds like a plan. and at least youve finaly decide on what your gonna do. not anything extreme hell me and nvy cant dont anything too extreme either but at least youll be more capable. need to get a tow strap then. i have a chain but cant trust those. ill see if my gf approves and yeah tallsville you should come down. but another weekend would be good of the desert. maybe after halloween when desert season starts to pick up more. more people and plus look up truckhaven hills. sometimes tds (tiera del sol) and the notches. i know we wont be doing them but itll be so funn to watch if theres people there. november 17th theres a meteor shower too. but thats a wednesday, not going to be anyone out there to watch in the notches.

hey tallsville. you should try and make it. itll be funn. and he didnt bottom out to bad. a little scraping on the frame. only once did i have to pull him out cause his rear tire was in the air. but with 4wd youll do fine. maybe a little bottoming out like he did but your front tires will pull you out.

Yeah if you hit the right lines you probably won't bottom out at all, well atleast on the first part, we didn't do the second part last time so its conditions are unknown. Like panda said, with 4x4 you shouldn't have any worries though. I'll make sure to get some tow straps, walmart should have them right?

the ones at walmart will work just fine. i think they are rated for 10k or 20k. they just arent that reliable as a jerk strap after long periods of time. they will be fine for what we do. now at azusa, thats another story.

if they are new straps, you wont have any problems. i have used these straps for years in the midwest with rain, snow and mud. they just dont hold up as well as actual jerk straps when they get wet and muddy over a period of time. now, if you try to jerk him out at 80 mph and he is stuck in 5' of sand...then you might have a problem :)

I just ordered a 30' ARB recovery strap online..I'm trying to find tow hooks for my front. My bumper has the holes and there are screw holes in the frame, but I can only find hooks for 97-02 expedition.

yeah that was weird. might need to get some hooks for the recovery strap. i know someone was complaining about that somewhere and i dont remember if they ever found hooks or if they had to go threw ford. i screwed up my passenger tow hook cause thats where i grounded my truck horn to since i moved it. you can hear it now. haha so the hook is all slanted still strong but just looks weird. ill see if my neighbor has the tow hooks on her expo and if they look the same.

The only place that has OEM hooks for the 03 is the ford dealership at $125 for both with hardware, all the places on the web are for the 1st generation, although maybe it's still the same bolt pattern and the info just hasn't been updated? Either way, looking at the frame, I don't see how it's possible to put the backing plate and the nuts onto the bolt since there's no way to reach inside the frame. See the pics for what I'm talking about.
