Like the thread states, my buddy came by the house the other day and was like "did u see ur window" obviously i was like no, so he says some one shot a bb through the small back door window (Vent window) i was pissed! anyway i took it to hunts point market and got it repaired for $60 thats a used window and labor, but i was looking on line and so that some of the glass companies like safelight want $288 for this repair, can that be right? another point i wanted to make was that this little window is all one piece with the frame(suprising) and i still can't figure out if the was intentional or some kid just playing around and an accident!

That sucks

Dude - That is a pretty accurate number. I would suggest going to a pick-a-part place, and see if you can find one that has a expy that matches yours. They should have a lot of them, if it's old enough, because there were a ton of these turned in during the "Cash for Clunkers" era. I have found a TON of parts for my 99.

Good luck.

In sympathy, I had a broken out side window on a 1979 Bronco. I figured, little window, pretty cheap. Best deal from a shop I could find was a 4 week lead time, and $300. I ended up getting a whole door from a junk yard for $50.

If I remember correctly, it's bolted and butyl foam sealed to the body. I'll post the full how to in a couple of days, after finals. Just bump the thread or send me a PM reminding me :p

The rest of the job is removing the interior trim to gain access to the bolts.

usually the smaller windows cost the most to replace. sounds stupid. i had a winodw smashed by a neighbors loan mower spitting out a rock. he paid for it though.

I had my rear window explode in the first snow fall when I was in Colorado a couple of years ago. Safelite was the fastest and cheapest. I think it was 350 for the rear window with the defrosters and the factory tint.

Oh, I thought you mean the big one behind it. Always called it the vent glass since on the Navigators (at least the older ones), there was a motorized option where it opened out and served as a vent.

I have it listed as the rear door glass - stationary. Either way, seems it's just removing the sliding glass, remove the moulding and the top run. Then, it's just a screw holding it at the top. I'll post tomorrow night or Friday once I'm done with finals.
