Picking up the first official solo vehicle purchase of my adult life this weekend. It's a seemingly-well-taken-care-of 2001 XLT with 121k. Brakes have been gone through front to back & the 5.4 has a cold air intake on it.

Issues I noticed on the test drive are a kind of bouncy ride (nothing alarmingly major; would the torsion suspension have anything to do with that?), typical minor Midwest rust on the pass. back quarters (cosmetics are non-issue at the moment), and a vibration around 60 that isn't felt in the wheel (possible unbalanced rear wheel / alignment?). Any other issues I should be aware of for this generation down the road / as I get acquainted?

Probably needs shocks. Check the rear trailing arms for rust.

That rust just kills me. Gotta love my 1/4 million mile 17 year old rust free truck.

Unfortunately, rust is almost impossible to avoid around here with vehicles this age. I did check the structure & didn't find anything alarming. Will keep an eye on it though.

Figured as much about the shocks. Been thinking bout a mild lift / air suspension anyway, so I'll just swap out all 4 struts while I'm at it.
