I have a 17 Expedition and two keys with remote start. I'd like to get a third key in case one of the oem ones gets lost so I can program a new one on my own. Does the expedition use the standard 80 bit SA key or is it unique? I'm finding inconsistent compatibility results on ebay. I'm fairly certain I can buy just the 80 bit SA key (without integrated fob), have walmart cut it, and use my two working keys to program it. Can anyone confirm or if a different model key is needed?

I am looking at switchblade keys and so far my reading says any 80 bit key will be fine.
I have 3 keys currently and just have not gotten around to fooling with yet. So can’t fully confirm.

I doubt Ford changed this ability for the non-just-have-the-keys-in-your-pocket cars/trucks. Pretty sure the instructions are in the owner's manual. Local hardware cut the blanks for my last Expedition (and Explorer) noting "we can cut them but they won't work." They did, of course, after programming.
