Good afternoon my 2000 expy 4.6L 4x2 has a misfire on cylinder #8 as said by the scanner. I noticed that the fuel rail is blocking the #8 COP. Do I have to remove the fuel rail including the injectors themselves as I saw on a you tube video? Or just the rail? Whats the easiest way? And do I have to soak the injector O rings first with kerosene or gasoline or wd 40? Thanks in advance.

I have always been able to use a shallow well 7mm with a swivel and a few 6 inch extensions in between the fuel rail to get that bolt off the cop and then use a magnet tool to pull it out. If that still doesnt give you enough room then I would suggest to pull the rail off the driver side of the motor only and depending on the mileage of the injector o-rings I would suggest installing new o-rings on the injectors before re-installation of them. I always use just a very small bit of grease on the o-rings to help with installation. You do not need to soak the o-rings with anything, just make sure that everything is cleaned off pretty well before installing them.

as far as fuel rail removal, I had removed and re used the at the time 276k mile old seals using gasoline to lube it. 30k later and no fuel leaks. You will need a dull plastic pick of some kind to remove (carefully) the o rings from the fuel rail should one stay behind.

be careful with gas especially on a cool dry day as static can discharge easier in those conditions and ignite the vapors.

Yes gas vapor is dangerous I will be careful. O rings for the rail may be a problem here. It might not be available or they might sell it as a whole assembly. Thanks for the advice!

If it were me I would go ahead and replace it. I wouldn't risk fire down the road for an extra 4-5 bucks
