I went to change my plugs today and the plugs I took out has very little thread only about half way and the new ones have thread all the way up. witch is right? I attached a pic
They are both right. One is just a different design from the other, most likely to help with the blowing plugs out issue. The shoulder (located at same height on both plugs) will keep the plugs from tightening down too far
No problem. I googled some pictures of spark plugs for the 5.4 and they all look like that new one. I couldn't remember off the top of my head what mine were like. What brand did you go with?
I went with the ngk platinum plugs. It runs awesome now no more miss fire on the high way. The old plugs look like they were never changed the gap was .o61 on the ones I took out with 192000 miles.. And I put in 2 new coil pack on the passenger side on the back 2.It took about 5 hours to do. I just took my time And removed any thing in the way on the passenger side my 97 expedition was more involved then my dads 2001 expedition for a tune up...
Yeah I think that is how mine were too. They were missing bad by the end at about 210k. I did motorcraft and accel super coils. Little bit of a rough idle but way better than the old set.
