2002 Eddie. Mach stereo. Right side speakers don't work. Ran stereo diagnostics. Error code was speaker short. Does this mean that an actual speaker is bad? a possible bare wire grounding on the body somewhere? would this effect the whole right side? Any help here is appreciated. Don't know where to start.

it could be a wire contacting somewhere. take off the door panels and take the speakers off. see if its right there. if not then the funn begins. you have to trace both sets of wires back to the amp in the back till you see it grounding out. but start at the speakers and the amp then work towards the center.

well, i took out the stereo and ohmed the speaker wires and found that the right rear wire from pin 5 has 400 ohms to grnd. the others have hi resistance to grnd. That wire goes to the rear radio control panel next according to the wiring diagram. Could that cause this grounding prob? Tomorrow the rear door panel comes off to check speaker and that wiring to see which direction to go from there. Found that the stereo automatically shuts down the right side when it senses a short in speaker to protect the stereo output circuits.
