Speedo problems

i have a 2000 expedition eddie bauer edition 4.6l 2wd. i replaced the tranny with one that i got out of the junk yard cause my other one grenaded on me and now that i have the other tranny my speedo is reading like im doing 100mph when im only doing about 20mph any help or advice is needed i have been told that i need to reprogram and others have told me that i need to change out my speedo sensor if one of these is it let me know where i can fix it at or where its at

The speed sensors are generally in the tailshaft (2wd) or transfercase if 4wd. I do not know the specifics of the 4.6 tranny but if you look around the tailshaft..maybe you can locate it?! If the speedo was ok before the swap I would say you may be able to swap out the speedo sensors and be ok. I know you can also adjust speedo calibrations in the computer but would not think this is necessary.

you can always get it checked out for free from the dealership...they'll tell you whats wrong...decline for them to do the work and then come back

alright ty for the advice i live right down the road from a dealership ill take it to them as i dont have the old tranny anymore i traded it as a core and the sensor went with it not a smart move on my part i know
