Hey Fellas,

I'm starting to hear squeaking from the front end when I drive over speed bumps and the suspension travels. My truck has 107K mis. on it, and I believe all the suspension to be original. Whoever owned this thing before me was obviously obsessive in their excellent care for the truck, it looks brand new. Anyways, I am thinking that it could be the ball joints starting to go. I had it up in the air a few weeks ago, and everything LOOKED go and everything I could wiggle was nice and tight.

Any suggestions?

Lower ball joints. Grease dries out and metal on metal causes squeaking. If you don't fix them soon, you will start to get squeaking when turning the wheels too.

Yeah, I'm leaning more towards ball joints as well. Initially I was thinking it could be control arm bushings, but they looked excellent when I checked the suspension a few weeks ago.

Both can cause squeaking but usually ball joints cause it first. At least from the few vehicles I have worked with.
