2014 Navigator - 80K miles - Upon starting, pushing brake pedal, shifter button won't depress while squeezing. I takes from a minute to up to 10 minutes to engage button. Any ideas what this is or how to fix?

I would call the dealer to see if they will fix it for free. They don't want any lawsuits from unsafe conditions.

When you press the brake pedal you should hear a slight click -- do you hear this, and do the brake lights indeed illuminate? If no, then there is a mechanical plunger switch on the pedal assembly that isn't making contact. If you can't hear the click for the shift-lock-override, you should be able to slightly feel it when you place your hand on the shifter.

I now have a problem with my Wife's 2014 Expedition. Upon starting, pushing the brake pedal, the shifter button won't depress while squeezing.

Brake Lights DO NOT come on . . . of course, I cannot move the vehicle and the dealer is over 10 miles away.

Although I do not see the mechanical plunger switch on the pedal assembly, I need to try to fix this to get the vehicle moving. Is this something that I can cure or at least override until I get it to be repaired? Suggestion!

When a new brake pedal switch is installed, you must start the engine, use your hand to pull-back the brake pedal - then push the pedal firmly (forward). This “adjusts” the switch to your pedal and mounting.

You may want to try this adjustment method before changing the switch.

These were perfect. Thank you. There does not appear to be any other reason for that access port and Ford appears to have been well aware of the locking issue by 2016. Unfortunately, I can confirm that the access port from the console which was present by 2016 is not found in the 2014 model.

Also, I have no brake lights suggesting that no signal is be reaching the console switch. The problem may be in the brake pedal or some other sensor.
I will look through the fuse block which is conveniently located under the hood.

Does anyone have another suggestion regarding the brake sensor?
