Hi all,
My 02 with a 4.6 starter seemed to go out. I tried the old hit with a hammer trick to no avail. I hear the sylanoid making noise when my wife hits the key, I am wondering how much of a job it is to change the starter, I want to try to pull it on Saturday, and take it to Autozone to test it and get a new one.

Thanks
Jeff

Should be like three bolts and a couple of wires. Shouldn't be to hard other than a bolt might be hard to access.

The bolts on top are a little hidden. you need to use a curved wrench or the correct length of sockets and extensions.

ok, well called a salvage yard and got one for 45.00 They said good one came out of a truck with 19000. I got it changed the top bolt was a major Pita, I ended up using an extention (6") and a stubbie ratchet. Getting it started back in was no pickic either, but project compete yeee haaa
