The truck looks great mmrseed, especially for that many miles.

Do you guys ditch the running boards so no fat girls can get in?

Looks great!!! Very nice!!
I'm keeping my running boards this time when I do the BL. I took them off on my last one, and you sure see alot ugly stuff under there. lol. Plus I got 2 little munchkins that get too dirty when they're trying to crawl in.

Welcome to the site!!!

running boards

I only ditched mine to give it the extra hight look, my kids are big enough they can pull them selves up, not sure if they will if i ever get the chance to put body lift on, i never thought about the electric pedals, and not being able to lift the body, so if any one has an idea as to if i can lift the body let me know, told wife if it came down to it i would put a lil step ladder in the back, for what little bit they ride with me, once every 2 months or so. also i am spraying 6 inch bed liner allt the way around the base of the body and bumpers, to avoid the big uglys, and rims are being pulled blasted and painted, black leaving the insets alloy

well I don't like the factory running boards so away they went. Also, I took off the luggage rack (had to if I wanted to park it in the garage anyway) and also the rubber door protectors. The "chrome" strip in the middle was starting to wrinkle slightly but I saw an expedition and an F150 that didn't have them and I liked the clean look so off they went....never sat hunched over so long with a razor blade and a hair dryer in my life

Anyway, I hope to get a 3" body lift soon so I can fit 37's under there. Is that still mild enough I don't have to worry about driveshaft angle issues and what not?

shouldn't have any problems with a body lift... body lift does just that lifts the body off of the frame therefore the drivesaft stays the same... i'm running 37x12.5 procomp extreme ATs on a 10" wide rim and they rub at full turn but not too bad

My door strips are next to go, i was fearing the endless hours with a heat gun myself, was it worth it? and how hard was it to get all the glue off the paint, i was affraid id have lines, not that it matters anymore with all the scratches i have now, and go for the body lift if you can, just if you have electric pedals, watch what you order, working on that myself, but the kits i have looked into say they wont work with trucks with electric pedals, got good people helping my figure this out, thank god for freinds

but if you lift the body 3 inches more doesn't the engine go up 3 inches as well since it's attached at the motor mounts in the engine bay, thus the drive shaft is angled even further, thus possibly causing an extreme angle at the u-joint near the rear axle, unless i misunderstand all of this which is quite possible (I am not the most adept at working on cars and trucks)

Anyway, as far as the tape and glue goes, it is a total pain and nothing I would do on a new car unless I was brave. I really don't like the door guards anyway but seeing as they were starting to get old anyway...it is worth it but like I said, lots of heat and plenty of bug and tar remover later for the lines you will get. Also, be VERY careful as pulling the guards off as you can easily get a small dent in the door when pulling them off once you get to the last few inches of guard. As you pull, the guard will push on the metal and that's $80 spent in dent removal after that. Good luck:)

Your engine stays right where it is. Just the body moves up. Unless you do an engine mount lift too. (I think the Jeep guys do that? ) So your engine will look like it dropped a few inches. The fan is way down from the shrowd etc.

On my Explorer the Body lift came with a bracket to drop the fan shrowd down. Not sure if the Expedition is the same way or not. But probably not as the shrowd goes all the way across the front and is attached to the body. I guess I'll know in about a week when I do mine!!!!!

with a body lift the motor does not more.... only the body everything else like brackets and grounds get extensions even the fuel filler hose.... basically in a nut shell... frame and everything stays in place and only body gets lifted so u can put bigger tires so drivesaft angles dont get affected....

another advantage of BL is with body lifting 3" and motor staying in place is you get 3" more room to work in your engine compartment.... downside u have to get ladder or stand on 37's.....lol
