Strange noise

I was pulling out of my drive today when my drive train felt like it was binding. Then all of the sudden it was like it spun out and sounded like a glass shattering. Then it sounded like something was spinning around and knocking on the under carriage. It all stopped and went quiet just as fast. I looked under it and could not find anything loose or broke and the car ran fine afterwords.

Any help would be great!!

4wd drive engaged? may have busted something in the front end or a half shaft. Is the front drive shaft still there? you might have blown the u-joint. Its pretty hard to lose it since they are flange style on both sides of the front drive shaft but the u joint may be blown out.
