First off, I noticed that most people with the Premium have no subwoofer. But at the same time, I have heard a few people saying that their Premium system came with one. My question is, since I have the Premium, if I had a subwoofer, where would it be located? I can't find any diagrams of it. (1997 XLT, Premium). I did find out that the Mach system has a sub in an area where mine is a recess, with a small net across it. I was wondering, not only if I do have a sub and where it would be, but since I am looking to have an aftermarket sub installed, is there any chance at all I could install it in the place of which the Mach system's is?

if u have a sub...it will be in the rear panel either on left or right side...if u have it u can replace it with a jl stealthbox that will have a 8" or 10" sub in it...then buy and amp to power it and hide it wherever you'd like...if u don't have a rear sub...same procedures apply as u will need to find where it would be and install it there...it may require modifying that area if you don't...if u put a picture of the rear area on here we can tell u from looking at it where it would be...then go from there and we'd be able to tell u if modifying the area will be needed if u don't by looking at the pic

yes...u don't have to buy from their website...I like ebay and get a lot of stuff cheaper...or check ur local audio dealer for specials...if u will have to mod it...u'd have to cut out an area and screen it...build box and secure it inside or buy small prefab box and put in...i'd pay a reputable shop for the job personally unless ur good with doing it yourself...they should be able to make it look like it belongs if they do a lot of custom work...them hold them reliable for any screw ups...

May sound odd, not sure

I have a few family members who paid Geek Squad $50-100 and got their subs installed in about 20 minutes. I can do it by myself, I may be young but I have the know how of the entire situation. Since the place where the sub is in the Mach edition is already there, I will probably end up just drilling holes and running the cables through the back, to keep it simple. Amp placement is my next question, and currently I have no idea where the amp is in mine.

under seat of 2nd row...or in panel with sub...if you put it in the panel you'll need cooling fans to keep it cool so it wont overheat and cut off during the summer...u'll need minimum of 2 fans...1 for intake and 1 for exhaust to allow air to flow through

I was going to recommend that you obtain a copy of the Ford Service manual on DVD from a seller on e-bay but when I checked it appears he is no longer selling then.

If you send me your address by a private message I will send you a copy of the DVD so that it will help you get you expy repaired. This is a factory service manual which also includes wiring diagrams.

I have read all of your post and I will say that it was nice to read those post from a young man that knows how to express himself and offer information about the problems.

Question for 6k. Are the cooling fans needed for the sub, if the placement of it will be open? The place the sub is on the mach is an open area on mine, and therefore is not covered by anything...Wouldn't that open it up for air to circulate? I forgot to take a picture when I was out testing my windshield seal, and it's now once again dark out here. I'm linking a picture, it's not mine, and it's a bit different. In the right side on the picture there is the place where the sub would be on a Mach. Mine is simply an empty space with that shape. So what I'm thinking, is that I could mod it to fit in that space if it doesn't already. Would it still need a fan on the sub if it is open , and not enclosed?
