Sunroof disabled with factory roof DVD player?

I have a 2001 with a factory DVD player in the console and a flip down screen on the roof behind the sunroof. The sunroof will not open. I read somewhere that the sunroofs are "disabled" by the dealer (possibly) when the roof flip down screen is installed.

Does anyone know if this is true?

That sounds obsurd. This DVD player shown below?

Why would they need to do that? It's set far enough back to not be a problem. Our navigstor granted its an 03 has factory dvd and roof functions as it should.
