What is the standard when replacing your struts and coils? Do you just replace the struts and re-use your old coils or buy the strut/coil combo? My expe is almost at 100k and was thinking of changing those out but what has anybody else done? what brand/? struts alone or strut/coil combo?

I went with bilstein struts at 88k and re-used the factory springs. The ride is more firm than stock, but I am pleased with the performance. I've never had a bad experience with bilstein and most of the kits with new springs used monroe struts if i recall correctly

if it's not sagging and you're not looking for a radically different ride I would not replace the springs. Any new shocks/struts will feel stiffer than 100k anythings but the bilstens are nice units, I've been feeling letdown by monroe as of late.

^^^ +1 He makes a great suggestion. I did the same thing in my 2003 (bought new) about the same mileage years ago. They have 157k miles now and are still about perfect. Cannot go wrong with Bilstein. I Use them on all cars and trucks (Super Duty Series, Crown Vic, Marauder, and other non Ford vehicles).

I put the Rancho loaded leveling kit on all 4 corners. It gave about an inch or two lift and included new springs as well as the struts. The struts are also adjustable if you're willing to crawl under your rig.

I've been satisfied with them so far. I have about 40k on them at the moment.

KYB struts are excellent as well. RockAuto has them as well as Ranchos. The Ranchos come as an assembly and allow you to lift the truck to varying heights.

They are rough, unless you are a pro-am or professional. With that said, very doable. My tech took about 3 hours if I remember. Maybe less.

Go with Bilstein if you can afford them. They are the best combo or ride, control, and long term same performance. They have lifetime warranty too.
