Just did a complete rebuild because of a guide breakdown. All of the plastic in the oil pan and pickup tube. Caught it the week it broke. It had DNJ timing set ( crap the shop put in ) that I specifically asked for Ford parts. DNJ and Melling and other chains are not “ micro ground smooth on the back of the chain “ that is what “ate thru the guides “
I always could hear a humming noise when I got the truck back, but it ran perfectly for 40k then got weird o2 intermittent lights, the guide let timing fluctuate. Had a start up chain slap and parked it.
I WILL ONLY USE FORD LATEST REDESIGNED FOR ALL BUT THE OIL PUMP. MELLING HVP60 OR HVP40
The truck is perfect again. This picture has two sets, I returned the second one.
After the fact.. DNJ now has redesigned the chain to a “ quiet chain “ ! GTH DNJ….
