Ok folks, it's that time for my 2012 Expy: time to play name that ticking noise! I've attached some videos with the noise from both above and below the truck. The noise does get faster when I rev the engine. I've tried the stethoscope isolation method and can hear it throughout the valve cover.

I've even attached a poll with several options just for additional fun!

Wow, sounds like an old EGR valve on the exhaust flapping with the pulses.....
Didn't see this listed as a choice above!

Other than that, it's an exhaust leak...............didn't see that listed either

Thanks, hadn't thought of those. Just added them to the poll.

It sounds like its coming from the front of the engine, though.

Top side video sounds normal, lower one doesn't, if you're lucky that's an exhaust manifold leak affecting just one cylinder

Check torque on all 8 plugs, if it’s not that my thinking is phaser. Does the ticking get louder or go away after 1,200 RPM?

Here are two more videos with the ticking when I rev the engine. It sounds louder from the wheel well than from up top.

Phaser goes away when oil pressure takes off locking pin. Not phaser then. It’s more likely loose plug or roller rocker
Just checked all my plugs, they're nice and tight. Guess I'm going for rollers and phasers. Guess I'll be doing both sides and VCT solenoids soon as a precaution.
