I rotated my tires today. They have about 20k miles on them. I was worried that I waited too long but just didn't have time to do it until today.

I put the truck on 4wd low which I've always done on 4wd vehicles when jacking to lock the front wheels too. I also set the emergency brake.

I rotated the tires, took it out of 4Low and then out of 4WD back into A4WD. There was a loud bang at some point but I can't remember the exact sequence. I took it for a ride and noticed that it seemed to be still in 4wd. I started to think the A4WD was keeping me locked up because of tire size difference and that I waited too long before rotating. I pulled over and pulled the fuse (#104) in the dist. panel. It still did it. I got home and re-rotated them.

I did the same thing again and all was well. I went up to the parts store and bought a front sway bar link kit because the front passenger side was broken in 1/2. I kept thinking about the rotation and thinking it wasn't the A4WD but was stuck in 4WD. I got home and re-rotated again. All was OK after that time. I must have been stuck in 4WD. I notice that I have to go in reverse sometimes to get it out and probably didn't go back far enough.

I then started into the swaybar link job. The NAPA kit came with both for $22. I pulled the remainder of the pass side off and then took the drivers side off. The new kit had bolts that were just barely too short for me to get the nut started. I put a ratchet strap on it and still couldn't get it to thread on. I ran up to Home Depot since NAPA was now closed and got 2 longer bolts, 2 flat washers, 2 lock washers, and 2 nuts. I used the longer bolts with the lock washers instead of the locknuts they gave in the kit. I had a slightly longer bolt and didn't want to get into the shoulder before snugging down. I still might put another nut on there as a jamnut. The bolts that came were about 6.5" long. The new ones were 8" long. There is probably 1" of bolt hanging below the nut after I was done. The originals may have been OK after compressing the bushings but I couldn't get that far. Maybe a big c-clamp next time...

The only bolts at the HD that would fit were not graded at all. The ones in the kit were grade 5. I think they should probably be ok. HD goes from no markings to grade 8 with nothing in between.

Tires are rotated and swaybar links are replaced.
