The more I keep thinking about your problem, it points to a clogged radiator. A radiator shop may be able to save it, but most newer vehicles have to be replaced. If you can get your hand around safely, short of temp guage, you can check for cold spots with your hand. Also replace any radiator caps in question.

Just got off phone with a good friend, who also was a ford tech, he agrees sounds like radiator. Try flushing first. Feel temp around radiator before, and after flush. See if it changed. I've seen some real rusty cars and bikes, when owners ran water, instead of coolant. Plugged up everything.

The previous owner were not in any way mechanically inclined so, running straight water wouldn't surprise me. Hopefully this weekend I can flush it out and get it working.

You should see around a 15-20 degree temp drop from radiator inlet to outlet when the system is at operating temp. How did you burp the cooling system? How far away is the temp gun from the rad hoses when reading them?

System not yet burped. Temp gun is 6 to 10 inches away. I'm in the middle of the flush only reason burp isn't done

Flushed radiator, had a bit of sludge in it. Propped open blend door. I now have about 80% heat. T stat still sits about 25% up on the gauge. So for now heat is good. Next up my electrical issues. (In first post)

Post with other issues: Let's see: windows don't work, side mirrors don't work, rear wiper doesn't work, heat doesn't work. Ac doesn't work. Using the control panel for the windows makes the dorman change positions. The dome light and running lights don't work. 4X4 only works in AWD mode. Hitting the lock unlock button changes the fan speed for the heat/Ac.

So, any thoughts?

The gem was new and sealed when I bought a it as was the MFS.

Another little or maybe a big thing. Replace radiator tank cap. If it's leaking pressure, won't build full pressure. Their cheap to replace. Disregard if you already have.

My shop is garbage, thats putting it nicely too. I'd have to drive 60 miles to find a decent shop.

You don't have an auto parts store near you? Where did you get all the other parts?

The A4WD works. Hi and low however do not. Are you referring to the overflow tank? The one in the truck is high capacity holds like 1.5-1.75 gallons. Just need a new cap for it as this truck doesn't have a rad cap. Next up to fix is upper and lower ball joints both sides, the rods on both sides, alignment and a trans flush. Oh, and all of the weird electrical issues.

It's basically an expansion tank, and yes your right that's the pressure cap. These radiadiators don't have a radiator cap. Everything's pressurized from the tank.
