i can safely sayall of these reasons from @Deadman are why i chose the expy over the nav.

honestly the only thing i really wanted from the nav were the amber rear turn signals . but most definitely NOT anything else from that backside !!!

It’s interesting that professional reviews are so positive and many find some major faults.

The airbag seatbelts could definitely be an issue as we have a 2 and 5 year old and another on the way so we’ll be needing a variety of car seats.

My kids just graduated from boosters. Whats the skinny on the air bag belts? I don’t think they impact car seat stability however they might shield the kid from debri given they inflate tward the doors.
Just curious didn’t really think about them much.

Latch has its weight limits so any car seat, convertible or booster, then requires install with the seatbelt.

The Britax Boulevard Clicktight which we own for example cannot be used with an inflatable seatbelt according to Britax and Chico says not products can and we own two of their boosters.

But, there is a list of approved options for each manufacturer so I’m sure there’s a way around it, it just makes things more difficult and costly if you have to go out and replace a bunch of seats. In the grand scheme it’s under $1000 to replace 2-3 car seats/boosters but not something you want to get wrong.

"professional reviews" are like politicians, whoever slides them the most cash under the table gets what they want! Its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$

I think it's far more out in the open than that. Test vehicles are delivered and picked up for free or reviewers are flown to exotic locations to test vehicles. Implicit agreement that if you trash our stuff that might stop.

the latch system has been misunderstood since it was created. So not surprising there. I never used it given it was easier to just use the belt. I always lost skin on my knuckles trying use latch lol. Most people use the belt down method incorrectly also.

Had a local dad fire chief visit my kids school and do a surprise seat check during drop off for those who were interested. About 70% of the seats flipped on their sides when checked lol. 10 weren’t even belted.
Tip flip the receiver so the release button is facing inward to avoid kids, dogs, grandparents from unknowingly releasing the clip/belt.

I've borrowed the navi a few times from different dealers totaling about 10 days of daily driving. Car Media reviews / comparisons of it vs. its competitors are fairly accurate - its a pretty damn nice vehicle.

I just think the expedition is slept on (especially the platinum), given that it's interior is not consistent with a 70-80K vehicle. Otherwise, it's mix of utility/ruggedness, ease of use, luxury/power and no ******** tech (besides RES) makes it surprising for a Ford badge.

OP, If you are looking for a bit more premium but like how your limited drives, I'd recommend to cross shop platinums. It bridges the gap between the limited and the Navi reserve with the better leather seats and steering wheel, more leather/wood in the consoles/door panels, noise cancelling, massaging seats.

That and the fact they (Politicians) do whatever is needed to get re-elected. Or maybe they have a mission in life to accomplish something THEY want. Its not a perfect system but nobody has come up with a better one yet (that I know of). Some (a few) are actually honest good people. The rest are ******. Seems like a lot of the reviews are actually an advertisement for the product.

I appreciate the info and agree the Expedition is a great value play, especially when bought a few years used (prior to these inflated prices).

I have the Limited 302a so most of the Platinum features minus the leather upgrade and a few things but I don’t think it would be worth me upgrading to Platinum vs spending a few dollars more for the Navi.

Probably best to put my upgrade on hold until prices settle down a bit or I have some / if any negotiating power as I imagine the price is the price for both the trade in and vehicle being purchased!

Id for sure wait for the 22 to get rid of the ancient rear suspension thats so pathetic on these 4th gens. I'm literally fed up with both of mine because of this $hit rear suspension geometry. Mines's better with the aftermarket sway bars, but heaved roads it flails around like a fish outta water yet. SUPPOSEDLY they copied GM's design and added another link to stop that sway and bump scrubbing.

One thing I didn't see mentioned is the dealership experience between Lincoln and Ford. Obviously, quality for both vary all across the country, but something to consider based on your location.

Also, if my black label Navi needs service, I can have someone drop off a lincoln loaner at my home or work and take in my vehicle. I would never do that for a few reasons, but for some it may be another selling point.

Same here, I'm afraid of the high school kid they might send to pick up my Black Label.

I own a Navigator and am very happy with it. I love the 30 way seats.

Inflatable seat belts are optional on both the Expedition and Navigator. Get them if you want them. We like them, but don't have to deal with child seats.

We have a 2nd row bench on our Navigator. We special ordered and it is available on most trims.

Thanks for the info everyone. I’m having a few dealers price out the trade in value of my Expedition. If they all low ball me so they can make huge profits on the resale them I’m not even entertaining this trade.

It sounds like some love the Navigator and think it’s a good upgrade while others love their Expeditions (it is an Expedition forum so go figure!).

It would be good to hear real world experience on service for Lincoln vs ford.

lincoln claims pickup/dropff of loaners and your vehicle.

my loaner experience with ford has been less than Stellar. For warranty issues, I have had one dealer say only an eco sport/only if one is available. Another said I am on my own (suggested Enterprise). The third after having my Expy for two days arranged a ranger 4 door 4Wd. All over the map.

thoughts?

Hello All
I have both a Navigator reserve and an Expedition platinum.
Obviously more luxury and options in the Navigator, ride and quietness and warranty better etc. Both great vehicles
Cheers to all.

I have a 2019 limited stealth expy. My wife has a 2018 Navigator. I am pleased with both of these and enjoy driving both. There are a lot of differences in the expy and the navi. I like driving my expy because of the look and the solid feeling of it. The Navigator is the softest, smoothest driving vehicle I've driven. I love the heads up display but enjoy the controls of my expy. Can't go wrong with either. Just a matter of choice and $.

…..But for long road trips, I want to be coddled in a NICE leather seat not a disappointing questionable materials "leather" seat. I also got the tan color interior (which I like more than black) but the color looks like it's straight out of 1999, not tan but more of an ugly tan. I'd love a nice saddle brown or light tan legit leather to sink in for an 8-12hr trip…

As others have mentioned, the Platinum trim is a good compromise on upgrading to the Lincoln for seating comfort /luxury.

I have the Medium Soft Ceramic color, which is basically white leather. I think the dark stain wood trim with white leather and charcoal gray/black hard surfaces really looks nice—and definitely more of a modern look than the old tan leather.

As far as comfort, they are massaging/heated/cooled… and they might not be up to LS460L standards, but I LOVE these seats. 12 hour trip? NO problem.

Yep.. big difference here.
My local Ford dealership has provided me with a loaner probably five times over the last 2 years.
Every loaner was a tiny little EcoSport. Laughable.
However, they always have done quality work, and never once balked at my requests, or questioned the warranty coverage. So…

Even though it irritates me to drive the little clown cars.. and my neighbors poke fun at me claiming my Expy must have given birth in the driveway…. I guess I can get over it.
