Ola, i have a 04 expedition that i bought with a 5.4 and a bad trans. So when i went lookon for a used trans my prefured junkyard told me to only use a 04 trans. But i had herd that a 01-04 will work. Any way i put a trans in from a 03 expedition that also had a 5.4 and it bolted up fine. All the electric plugs were the same. However, the trans i put in dosent shift. I have forward, reverse, 1, 2 and 3. It just wont shift. Is there someting different in the trans electronicly? Is the yard correct in that only a 04 trans will work? I still have the old trans is there any electricl components i can swap out to make it work? Pretty much i want to exhaustall options and know everytnig i can before i pull it and go get one from a 04

Welcome to the site.

If you anyone with a snap on scanner I would ask them to connect up and monitor the transmission shifting commands.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm new and didn't think I should start a new one. I'm also having a transmission issue with my 2004 EB. I put a trans from an '03 F-150 in today and now my speedo doesn't work and it won't shift out of 1st gear. If anyone has any ideas please advise. Thank You.

Definitely start a new thread for this one man! You might luck out riding on this one, but you'll likely have better visibility on a new post. Good luck and welcome to the forum!
