Its from a 2000 xlt 5.4 ....... i am planning on putting this in my truck cause my transfer case is stuck in 4x4.. well on transfer case i got today from the 2000 xlt i spin tje front drive shaft hub and the rear spins . My question is shouldnt it not spin cause.no power to it for the clutch to do awd... cause it seems same problem as i have now.and dont want to waste my time on a bad part... sorry for how.its typed im not my phone

I have not pulled shift motor btw on either t cases.... the shift motor on my 99 xlt i hear it shift amd the ligjts corrispond to the shifting as i turn the dial... the t case from the 2000 is on the ground...

I doubt it completely free wheels but theoretically you should be able to hold the front driveshaft and still spin the input shaft. This assuming the shift motor does not have it locked in 4wd as it sits.

If it is locked in 4wd I would still suspect a faulty shift motor.

So you think before i replace the transfer case to make sure the shift.motor didnt get the t case stuck in 4x4 and is it marked i assume once the shift.motor.is pulled

If your asking if it identifies what position it is in, I do not believe so but have not serviced mine before.

I would suggest using the shift motor out of the transfer case you just purchased to see if it works.

Big snow storm happening so i pulled the shift motor off the used on and it is marked 2wd 4 hi 4 lo ......so im going to have to check the t case thats in my truck to see if its in 2wd
