My dad has a 99 5.4 with 190k in it. Last night I was driving it and it started a real loud whining coming from the underneath of the truck. Checked all fluid it was fine. Turned the truck back on and the noise was gone. Drove 5 mins and it was back.
Today I drove for about 25 miles with it whining and it slipped out of gear and won't go back in unless I turn the truck off and let it sit for a minute. But even then it slips out of gear about 30 seconds later. The whining stops completely when it slips out of gear but come right back if I can get it into gear....
Anyyyy idea would help, sitting on the side of the interstate in a real bad spot.
