Threw a rod in my 98 expy...engine was a 4.6L a guy in my town is parting out his 97 F-150 with a 4.6 in it for cheap. Can't get any straight answers from anyone...can I drop this in my expy without any problems or are there other issues with this that I'm not aware of! Thanks in advance

No, it's the same! The tranny is where you will run into prob. They changed the pin out for 98!

Thanks! Wish i still had my 97 though!

ha sorry man its getting late here and you lost me...so the 4.6 out of the 97 f-150 will fit the tranny on my 98 expy right? or no? If no is there some way i can just change out how it connects to the tranny?

From what I read on this thread, you're fine. Keep your xp tranny, and bolt up the engine. Plug and play so to speak. Good luck.

I think he was saying that if you put the 97 tranny into your 98 you'd have an issue with the electronics hooking up.
