Just bought a 2008 with 140k on the clock. At highway speeds the steering it tends to be pretty "touchy". It will wander to one side and when you correct it over steers to the other side. I checked the front end and everything seems to be OK. In fact, it all looks like new. None of the rubber appears to be deteriorated or torn all the end links look good, no leaks from the rack, steering seems tight, ball joints good. I am left with replacing the struts and getting the alignment checked. No leaks from the struts but I will bet they are original. Same in the rear. I have a 92 f250 and 3 Chevy 3500s so I am used to driving trucks and they all handle just fine. Anything I might be overlooking? Would struts give these symptoms? Any input would be appreciated. THANKS!!!!

How do the tires look? Any feathered or uneven wear? Does it pull to the side? Maybe try a tire rotation first and go from there. Congrats on your new ride!

Right front is slightly cupped on the inside. Doesn't pull in either direction. Thanks for the welcome.

Just a thought, you didn’t say if your Expedition was EL or regular length. You did say you have driven F250 and Chevy 3500’s. If they are crew cab long beds, they would be much longer wheelbase than normal Expedition. Shorter wheelbase will be more twitchy feeling. I used to sell Chevys. Didn’t like driving Tahoe’s because they felt twitch, less stable.

All except 1 Chevy are standard cabs. The Expedition is regular length. All the rubber bushings on the vehicle look good. I can't get any play when I try to move the sway bar by hand.

If you know anybody else that has same body style, see if they would let you test drive. Might just be the difference between truck and Expedition.

Good deal. So you probably need an alignment. Depending where you are on tire left get an alignment or wait until a new set. Glad you got it figured out!
