My accelerator pedal is very touchy on my 06 expy. It wants to jump instead of gradually taking off. Ive tried different pedal locations thinking maybe my foot placement was wrong. Backing up to a trailer is tough it just wont creep. I put in 4wd to back up just to help it creep up to the hitch ball. any one else have this problem? how do you fix it? Is it me??

I've got the same issue with my 05 but haven't done any research on it. Hopefully someone will reply with some suggestions.

That's weird. The complaint I usually hear about the throttle by wire motor 3v motor is the lack of response in the gas pedal. What I usually find with my dad's truck is that it takes a bit to repond to me pushing the gas. Because of the lag, I end up pushing it more than needed, so it seems to accelerate more than needed.

I especially notice it since my expy is drive by cable and chipped. The only way to solve the laggy pedal is to do custom programming aka chipping it to improve responsiveness.

Earlier this year I acquired a gently used 2006 Ford Expedition Limited to serve as a backup to our 2008 F-350 crew cab pickup truck. This expedition is replacing a 1998 Expedition LTD that has over 236,000 hard miles on it. When I asked the salesman about the very touchy gas pedal, he said it should be a simple adjustment. But, so far no one I have asked has a solution to the condition. So, does anyone on this forum know if there is a mechanical resistance adjustment for the gas pedal on a 2006 Expedition?

I though our first gear is support to accelerator a bit faster then second or third.

My accelerator pedal is very smooth and consistent. I don't have any proof but my guess is that since the accelerator pedal is electronic maybe the electronic portion is wearing out and it needs to be replaced.

Still need to know if there is a "mechanical" adjustment...

...So, does anyone on this forum know if there is a mechanical resistance adjustment for the gas pedal on a 2006 Expedition?

OK, if I'm reading the responses correctly, my accelerator pedal actually feeds an electric motor which sends fuel to the fuel injectors. Correct?

So, as the accelerator pedal must be manually depressed for this action to occur, and then the pedal returned to its standby position when the force of a foot is released, is there not a "mechanical resistance" device which makes this happen; and can this be adjusted to provide more resistance?

Thanks!

Mine is 05 EB and it is a bit touchy also. I have step light, Knee is now aching not sure if it is from it or not. During speedy ride I love it.

OK, I also heard this from an AutoZone store store manager / former Ford service writer. He recommended I run a bottle of LUCAS Oil "Upper Cylinder and Fuel Injector Cleaner" through on my next two gas refills. Tank number one is about through. I'll wait and see what (if any) results the second dose produces.

Same here. Right knee aches after a long trip that doesn't include cruise control. Interesting "cause and effect" to consider.

Jumping Accelerator.

My '04 did not do this, but I just replaced it with an '06, and I now have exactly the same problem. I have a good friend who is a master auto tech (GM), and he didn't have any suggestions. He did do a chemical cleaning of the air intake and throttle body, which seems to make it better, but the issue is still there. It seems to me there must be a remedy, either mechanical, or electronic, but I haven't found any solutions online..
