One possibility is you have an intermittent ignition misfire.

It may help if you tell us the model and year of your expedition.

I would suspect ignition miss due to the intermittent nature of it. Generally drivetrain issues are consistently there under the same conditions.

i guess i should replace all the coilpacks , why isnt this issue setting of the check engine light? also why doesnt this happen at higher speeds it only seems to do it from 0-35 ish then after i take my foot off the gas for a second and hit it again it goes away ?

Usually for the CEL to come on, the cylinder has to be completely dead. I get the same kind of stuff with my truck and I am going to replace all coils and plugs this weekend.

I am not suggesting you change your coilpacks.

But that you may have an intermittent misfire. It can cause the issues you described but its not the only possibility. Further troubleshooting would be necessary to determine if it is indeed a misfire and if so the cause. The coils are not always to blame. Misfires can happen for a variety of reasons.

Another thought is torque converter shudder.

Hi jcar,

What year and mileage is your Expedition? I'd like to look into available avenues of assistance.
