Make sure you look at your roof channels. The ones closest to the windshield have a high tendency of rusting. The way it was designed is incorrect and holds the water like a bucket. The only way fords corrosion warranty will cover this is if there are holes along with the rust FYI.

Doesn't help that the paint likes to crack there.

It annoys the shit out of me that Ford couldn't design simple roof channels, or rain channels on the windshield.

Kind of annoying to have to wait a few minutes until you've done a few stops to get all the water out of the channels. You open them up too soon, and you get water poured inside at the next turn. Same with the windshield, can't hit the mist function too long with the windows rolled down, or you end up with some washer fluid inside. /rant

Yup total pain in the ass. I have a tendency to forget this - I automatically roll down my window when I get in the truck (FL) and pull out of the driveway and BAM I'm soaked....damnit...

Completely agree with you guys on this. Very irritating on my 06 as well. To the point where i have consided getting those window things to try and keep my window controls from getting soaked. Mike.

It's good to have an old 1st gen for at least 1 reason. I will never understand why leaving a good design alone (rain channels) would be a bad idea. That and why go a cheaper route if it is not effective?

the only spot of rust i have is above the wind shield. idk whats going on there, but its small and i think it was there when we got it. but that goes to show you that since people liked a design they dont want to mess it up to make it functional.

I know the water is an issue but make sure you check those channels. With the water sitting there and they sun its not a good mix. Seeing that I know people in the industry if you get my drift. Only two things can happend.
1. Ford has a 3year 36k against surface rust
2. Ford has a 5year 100k against the rust but it must have holes, not made be a drill either. Get my drift.
