I had a suspicion that water was dripping onto my engine cover since there’s dirt on top of the cover from what seems like water dripping onto it and then drying (I noticed this right after buying it new, and I only have about 600 miles now). I popped the hood today after we got a wet snow to see where water might be coming in. I was surprised to see a good amount of water dripping into the engine bay on the driver side where the firewall and fender meet. It was coming in pretty good and dripping onto the felt and around some of the electrical connectors. There was also some on the passenger side in the same area.
Also, in the middle of the cowl there’s a sizable gap in the weatherstripping that’s supposed to seal the rear of the hood. See pics below. As I watched I could see water starting to come in from the middle section and then drip down the plastic above the engine an onto the cover.
Is this normal? I’d think more engineering would’ve gone into sealing the engine bay from water dripping into it.
