I have a 2018 expedition max. The ac stopped working intermittently about a week ago.
I took to a shop I've used before and they quoted me $3500.00 for a new water pump because I have a coolant leak? (Feel like I would have noticed this.), and also a new ac compressor because there is a refrigerant leak.
Has anyone experienced this?
They also told me that coolant has nothing to do with ac when I dropped it off but when researching I think this was false.
Thank you for any input!

Get another quote. Also get the AC system checked for refrigerant level. Perhaps they were trying to say there's an AC leak? If refrigerant is low due to a leak the compressor will not turn on. The severity of the leak might determine how you proceed.

The water pump was a DIY for me, but I have a Gen 1 Ecoboost so there might be some differences. Check on YouTube for the actual labor needed.
