if you can give me an idea as to how many pins or wires and the colors I could look them up on the wiring diagrams however that will take some time to do and at this late hour It will have to wait till morning also better pics showing the pin layout would help

I've got class till around noon but after that I'll go crawl under the dash and see if I can find them. Sometimes they use a generic harness with features that are not included on every model, so the plugs are just not used.

Anything not work in your truck? Light, radio display, odometer, etc.

when ford builds the expy they use wiring harnesses that will serve other functions and not all functions are used in different models XLT/EB
So it is very common to see connectors that aren't being use due to those systems not installed in your expy.

As I posted above the connector behind the kick panel may be for the air ride system and if your expy doesn't have air ride that connector would just be hanging unused

also check the color of the wires as there may be a second color on a wire and sometimes it is hard to see for example green with a blue stripe

YEA THATS WHAT I THOUGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THE ONE UNDER STEERING COLUM IN NOT SURE IF I TAMPERED WITH IT WHILE REPLACING MY HEATER CORE OR NOT JUST BEEN HAVING THE SPEEDO GO OUT AND HARD SHIFTING FROM TRANS

NEW PIC

Maybe someone already posted this and I didn't see it but the first one looks like your trailer brake controller wiring connector....

Just in case you wanted to see where it was supposed to be. Mine is also unplugged. I agree it's the trailer brake control plug.

Sorry it's not the best picture but the plug on the right is the same one as the one you posted.

Honestly that second one looks like it would be a speaker plug just based on it only having two wires and them being purple and green.

What I would try first (if you have not done this already) is a hard reset of the computer. Unhook the battery and turn the key so that all power is drained off. Reconnect and start it up and let it idle for 5 minutes to re-learn fuel mixtures, etc. Go for a drive and see if the trans still shifts hard. If it does, I would look at the speed sensors. There is one on each front hub and one on the rear axle called the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is on the rear axle.

I found this thread that sounds similar to yours so I would start with the VSS in the back.
