I looked and couldn't anything on this topic so if i missed something i apologize. What does switching from normal drive mode to sport mode actually do. Can you tell a difference when switching between the various drive modes?

Is sport mode just available in the 2018 models?
Makes me smile![]()
Not me. Harsh shifting is very noticeable.
This. I can’t drive in Sport. Waaay too jerky on the upshifts and the car shudders when coasting to a stop because you feel every. single. downshift. And I know it’s not but the engine always sounds like it’s about to explode because it holds the shifts so long. I didn’t buy the platinum to have it sound like it’s working itself to death.
Believe it or not, but those firm shifts are actually a good thing. It means the line pressures are elevated and not delaying clutch engagement. The major benefit to this is better clutch holding ability, less clutch stress, less chance of slipping the trans(some trans have designed slipping which is stupid).
Long story short the 10R80 needs all the help it can get, and if you want that adaptive POS software to not wreck your trans prematurely always keep it in sport mode.
With the revs, they're designed to shift at "optimal" point in the power band.
I was averaging around 15mpg always running 4wd sport.
Lol, I can understand that! That clouds no good when it's posted up on a rack in the service dept. Some 10R80 replacements are just being rebuilt instead of replaced which is crazy being many of the techs at these dealerships barely have the qualification to do a teardown let alone a rebuild. That’s fine and all, but I’d rather feel like I’m riding on a cloud.

Usually a good ole 4-6wk turn around time lol.
If it breaks it breaks, that’s what warranties are for.
I bought this to be comfortable. I’m not going to drive uncomfortably to maybe one day avoid the shop. I’d much rather drive the way I want to (on a cloud of CCD bliss not feeling any shifts) and then happily take the free loaner for a month 4 years from now in the unlikely case that my transmission craps the bed.
And I certainly don’t care about gas mileage as I drive the automotive equivalent of the USS Saratoga.

Seriously. When my wife makes any remarks to my mileage I remind her that A) she drives a Honda Fit and B)I drive a 6000lb 450 hp tank....And I certainly don’t care about gas mileage as I drive the automotive equivalent of the USS Saratoga.
