What's the best way to install IPOD integration into a stock system?

I purchased one of the PIE adapters that plugs in to the back of the factory stereo and connects via 3.5 connector to the IPOD.

The fidelity is unacceptable.

Is there another way????

Not sure how much one of those cost, but if you want the best sounding reproduction, I would have just gotten a new head unit with Ipod integration. Decent aftermarkets sound better than stock anyways.

If you have a head unit like mine where it has rear controls and you dont want to lose that ability i would try an FM modulator which instead of transmitting a signal, it sends it directly inline with the antenna so its virtually loss less. I have a tape deck so i went with that route but i am prob gonna switch over to the modulator.

You still lose some of the highs and lows of the original signal. But, the OP may not notice it.

Also, don't quote me, but I do believe there are PIE adapters that enable you to keep the rear controls?

I have one from crutchfield. It takes place of the cd changer in my truck. I believe it is the isimple I'll find the link and post it later. The rear controls even work with it.

well I've had a FM modulator for about 7 yrs and it sucks
which is why I finally bought the PIE adapter...which was about $60.
and sounds like even worse crap.

I do not want a aftermarket stereo. There are many reasons behind this which I'm sure only matter to ME.

I'm thinking about a AudioControl LC8i

Problem is finding a place to put it. I'm already having a hard time finding a good spot for a amplifier or two.

I don't want any visible signs of aftermarket accessories in the vehicle.
