OK, so here's the deal: I finally got to mounting my Gear Offroad Crossbow 746B, 20x9 +18 on Falken Wildpeak MT 33 x 12.50 x 20. Currently lifted on 4WD F150 Bilstein B8 5100 up front (stock setting) and Expedition B8 5100 (top setting) in the rears.

Issue one: two of the wheels were received but not seated correctly. So I took them to get rebalanced. The two wheels that were rebalanced were installed on the rears.

Mounted them and went for a quick spin but the rig was shaking a lot. Got home and saw 5/6 lugs nearly backed out....(Did I tighten them?? I would've bet my life I did...but now I'm not so sure...) Jacked up the rear, tightened the lugs in a star pattern...lowered the rear and retightened. So I went for another drive and the same issue happened. This was the drivers rear wheel.

Issue two: Ive never used hub centric rings before, as on all my cars Ive always let the lugs center the wheels. Maybe I was wrong, so I installed the rings on the rears only. Went for yet another drive, and the drivers rear wheel lugs didn't back out, but they were really loose...again. So...again...I jacked the rear up, tightened them in a star pattern, this time took the torque wrench and went to 70lbs on all lugs. Then did the same to all 4 corners. Lowered the rig, double checked all was tightened to 70lbs. went for another drive.

rig wasn't shaking nearly as violently, but it didn't feel smooth. Got home, checked the lugs, and they were noted to all be at 40-50lbs each. I'm tired...going to work in a bit so I called it a day.

I have an alignment scheduled for next week; I will have them rebalance the front two wheels, and them mount the hub centric rings up front as well.

I had a 2008 Titan with a 10" lift, 18x9 pro comps on 35x12.5x18 and although I remember the ride wasn't as smooth, it definitely didn't feel like it was shaking.

any ideas??

Below are the two wheels that had the tires remounted and balanced (before photo)

Wheels and tires mounted on the rig.

Last photo are the lug nuts supplied by Extreme Customs.

My 08 I torque them to 150...
Well...color me dumb.

That being said I’ve never used huh centric rings before so would it be wise to use them this time around?

Dunno on the rings but you better look up the proper torque for your year, I don't wanna be responsible for snapped wheel studs lol

150ft/lbs

Looked it up...thanks man.

Although I do find it odd that only one wheel comes loose whereas the others don’t.

I am assuming the bore size of these rims is bigger than the expedition hub so you should use the rings on all 4 rims to allow for proper mounting. If you dont you will get an off balance feeling while driving.

I had aftermarket rims on my last vehicle and had to do this.

Also torque them to spec and you should be good.

Edit: one more thing... the rings should pop into the rim snugly first and then put the wheels on the expedition

Thank you for this reply. I will install the rings and torque to 150ft lbs. hopefully that’ll alleviate the off balance feeling and the lugs won’t come loose again)
