The automatic door locks on my ‘99 Expedition, Eddie Bauer, suddenly stopped working couple of weeks ago.
Neither the door lock keypad nor the remote key fob will unlock or unlock the doors. The interior and running board lights come on when the keypad or fob is pressed but the locks do not actuate. I tried the keypad reset routine described in the owners manual. I got some toots of the horn while going thru the process, but no fix. Power to the door lock relays seems like the likely problem, but I can’t find them!
Info online/YouTube gives at least four different locations for the door lock relays on 97-05 Expeditions:
1. On the remote keyless access module located under the dash next to the steering wheel
2. In the jack storage compartment in the rear of the vehicle
3. Under the oval panel on top of the dash
4. Under the dash, drivers side, right of the instrument panel
...and who knows where else!!
I ordered a replacement keyless access module and found that it, and mine have no relays mounted on it. (Wasted money!)
I pulled the oval panel, found a module with 3 relays but relay layout and input wiring is totally different than the one for 99 Expedition seen on YouTube there is not a common constant hot wire going the the relays as far as i can see.
I checked the jack panel compartment in the rear and did not see any relay module.
So...
First, where the heck is the module holding the door lock relays for the ‘99 Eddie Bauer Expedition?
...which, and where, are the fuses that feed the relay module? Fuses 4 and 8 referred to in the manual are ok.
And what else should I look for?
Thanks. ChuckMcB
