Which trans?

2000 Expy with the 5.4 is it the 4R100 or the 4R70W? I thought it was the 4R100 but I can't find anything that confirms that.

If you check the driver's side door there should be a sticker that gives you codes. I think the 4R100 is Trans code E. I also think the 4R100 pan has 20 bolts and has a drain plug and the other does not. I have the same truck with 4R100 so probably is.

Yep. 20 bolts. I had my pan off just a little over a week ago. I put in a drain plug!

I just did mine about 2 weeks ago too. Found a valve body bolt on the magnet. You don't have a drain plug on your's. I have one on mine. It is right through the center of the magnet. I thought all of the 4R100's had drain plugs. I guess I'm luckier than I thought.

The R100 is the larger of the two. If you take off the trans pan, the filter for the r100 has a longer pickup tube on the bottom due to it being a deeper pan.
