Which transmission?

Since I didn't see a transmission specific thread so I'm posting here.... I have a 2006 Expedition Limited, and I am curious about which transmission it has.... Also, are there any CV's that are stronger than stock???? Reason I ask is I eventually want to make my truck launchable in A4WD without destroying the entire drivetrain.... I'm going to build a 5.4 3v and I'm hoping to be push 6-700 hp when finished....

I don’t think I’d want to launch in a4wd. If you’re going launch, be either in 2wd or 4hi.

And I don’t think there are any CVs that are stronger. Some aftermarket replacements might be stronger than others based on how they are built, but nothing intentionally stronger than the others.

You can delete your VIN tag.
If your tranny shifts 6 times, you have the 6HP26 6 speed tranny. If only 4, the 4R70E or 4R75E tranny.

Tag on tranny will look like this:





Check your VIN for your build: Ford VIN

Yours should be 4R75E if only 4 shifts & seeing that it is a 12/05 build
