Driving one day and a smooth idler pulley exploded it's bearings.
The belt stayed on and I limped home without overheating or charging issues. While driving, the check engine light came on and I wondered what code there would be for the accessories drive failing. I was hoping it wasn't two separate issues that just happened at the same time. I replaced everything with a kit, tensioner, belt and pulleys. Then I went to clear the code, which was #345, crankshaft position sensor. About 75 miles of driving and the check engine light never came back on. Curious to know what code 345 would have to do with accessories drive failure or does that just trick the ECU into throwing that code?

Wild guess. The snake belt connects the crankshaft to the idler pully. When idler pulley "blew up", maybe there was some momentary influence to the crankshaft via snake belt tension. Then it all free'd up and never was a problem again?
