How to you reset the auto up on the drivers side window? I have noticed a couple of times when its really cold out my window stops going up (using the auto up) so I have to put it down a little and then push up and if I hold the window button in the up position the entire way it will go but now my auto up does not work any longer.

This has happened to me once before and it fixed itself after I changed the battery but I would like to figure out how to do it without having to do that.

Any ideas?

Matt, do you know if this will work on a 2007? I have auto-down but no auto-up, so I tried this but it made no change on my truck. I also have a wierd clicking/popping sound coming from the glass on my drivers door. It kinda sounds like the glass is jamming too hard into the track and causing something to flex. I can back off the glass just a bit and that noise will go away, so this is something else I was hoping would be fixed.

Jason,

That sounds more like a regulator issue (which are pretty common on the Ford trucks/large SUV's). I think there are a couple threads on regulator maintenance and repair; you may want to check those.

So the 07's don't have auto-up ?? Any chance the switch, motor or regulator has been changed with an incorrect part. According to the literature I've seen it should work on 07 and up. Have you tried the first part of the procedure to de-initialize the motor ?

The noise you hear may be the regulator cable starting to bind. Is the window really slow ?

Yea looks like no Auto-Up on the 07. I push on the button in the down position you can feel the second detent, but there's not a second detent on the up position. I really miss the auto-up from my last car.

Oh well, now I guess I've got a small regulator issue. The window speed up/down is normal, I just have that noise, so I'll start by lubing it up and see if that fixes it.

It's weird how some models don't have the same options. Our 06 Mustang has auto up and down on both windows. But our 08 Expy only has auto up and down on the driver side. The passenger side is normal. You would think the newer vehicle would have the same things as an older vehicle.

Same here! Our 06 Mustang has auto up/down on both windows, but our 07 Expy is auto-down only on the drivers door.

Well after looking a little further into it. It seems the 2007 models have a different part number for the window motor and window switch. According to the wiring diagram there are some additional wires shown also. I don't know if the wiring in the 07 is already there and they are just unused or if the entire harness is different. I would say at the least you may have to swap out the switch and motor to get the "auto-up" feature to work. Maybe if you can pick up a switch assembly for cheap try that and see if it works.

The part number you need for the "auto-up/down" switch is 8L1Z14529AA
Costs about $45 from Tasca

Again no guarantees that it will work.

Didn't work

Matt

This procedure did not work on my 2009 Expedition XLT. It had both auto-up and down before I changed out the regulator. I used the same motor. I have tried all 3 of the procedures I found on the forum, but I still have to hold the button for up/down. I disconnected the battery while lowering the glass like one of the procedures said. Either I'm doing something wrong or the 2009 must use a different procedure.
