having issues with a window regulator on 03 eb front driver door. Replaced it with a dorman regulator and it doesn’t fit correctly. Anyone have this issue?Door panel will go back on and it works, door handle just doesn’t sit right. The one poking out is the drivers door. All others are flush.
Is this reg defective? Or flawed

Aftermarket parts are always a crapshoot. They either don't fit, or they fail way too soon after install. Check with who you got it from, to be sure it fits your year/ model. If it does, you've got 2 choices, either modify it to fit, or return it. A friend of mine installed one he got from Oreillys with not too much struggle. Not sure of the brand, but it either was a stocking item, or one readilly available from their depot.

Is the handle hinge pin even in the retaining clip? It looks like it's not. But yeah, if you want factory fit you're better off with the factory Motorcraft regulator assembly. The Dorman requires special attention to make the handle and trim line up perfectly. The Motorcraft regulator is exact and won't require the tweaking. Been there, done that. Make absolutely sure you have the door handle hinge pin oriented properly. The fat end goes on the bottom. If you try to put it in inverted you will break the retaining clip off the regulator frame.

The handle is in correctly. The entire assembly seems to be pushing to far out. I’m going to take it off and see if I can tweak it a bit. Hopefully it will line up. Dorman says it’s because it’s an Eddie Bauer trim and ford literally told me dorman people are morons and it’s the same no matter the trim.

Well, take it back off and compare it to the factory one you took off. With the handle sticking out that far, any defect or difference should be pretty obvious.

It is NOT because it’s an Eddie Bauer lol. I put a Dorman one in my driver door and had to fiddle with it to have everything line up, but it did and fit pretty decent. Works great also.

Take apart, inspect and modify if necessary like others have said. Or - send it back and buy a Motorcraft part which I recommend as my experience suggests you'll be doing this again soon.

When I bought my expy (used) both rear regulators were broken and zip-tied in a way to keep the windows up. I bought 2 Dorman regulators and BOTH failed within 3 months - did some researching and found many others experienced the same. Spent the $$ on Motorcraft and here I am 1.5 years later with no problems.

After comparing the Dorman to the Motorcraft I could see where they skimped and why they failed. I would not recommend Dorman for this repair.
