I've bought a Ford Expedition 2006 a few months ago.
A few weeks after the purchase, I've found rust! on the bottom of the back doors.

And eventually, I've found the cause, here is a picture of the right back door's outer weatherstripping. (& With a screwdriver to demonstrate the gap.)

Water goes straight into the door!

Is this a known issue?
Does your Expedition also have weatherstripping like this?
How do I fix this? Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks

My '06 has the gap also. I doubt that this is the issue due to the fact that this weatherstrip is not designed to be water tight. The felt actually allows water to go into the door and drain out through the bottom drain. Now that being said, if the drains are clogged, or the vehicle is regularly parked with the drains uphill when it rains, I can see the bottom of the door getting rusty from the water sitting in there and not draining. All makes of cars I have owned have been designed this way, and I believe all manufacturers do this for operational windows.
Ford does have a "Rust-Through" warranty that I believe is good for 5 years. If a hole develops in the panel from rust, they will fix it. If it's only rust bubbles, they won't touch it.

Mines more or less up against the glass. It isn't water tight, but it does divert quite a bit out.
