Drove the family two hours away to a festival. We had to park in a field that had been rained on the night before (jackpot!!!). The drive lane had a few inches of slimy mud, and they were directing all the 4x4's that way. I took it in 2-wheel and started to spin. At first I heard the traction control working, then I slid sideways - a good sign that both rear wheels were pulling. I never gave it any more gas than if I had good traction, and I was able to straighten out and drive through without ever stopping. The guy directing traffic got the show he was hoping for, and my boys were ecstatic. I had just washed the truck that morning... I love the way this thing drives.

Last night I checked the air filter and while I was in there decided to clean the MAF w/ MAF cleaner. I did this in the midst of grilling up some dinner on the BBQ, so I was rushing a bit. Today when I went to start it up, it reluctantly started and sputtered before spitting 2 codes at me. What the heck could be wrong? All I did was clean the MAF. I popped the hood and there it was - the electrical connector dangling in midair. DOH!

Not much to report here, been driving my F150 daily when the weather is still nice. Expy is still tucked away in the garage and I will probably start driving it again in October. Also sweet rig Gruz, damn!

This morning I replaced the top front of my center console and added a retractable ashtray fromantic an EB expy. Luckily there are a plethora of jy's in colorado. I wasn't able to find one in a matching color, but a rattle can of dupli-color vinyl & fabric coating came to the rescue! After about 5 coats it's pretty darn close. I plan on throwing on the factory roof rack, also a jy goodie, till I can find a better aftermarket one that I like, tonite.

replaced the alternator, fortunately they didn't want the old as a core so I will rebuild it and keep it for a spare

I flushed and filled the coolant and replaced the 3 heater hoses. Only 1 of the 3 heater hoses was leaking, but I figured for the extra $46 I would just replace the other 2 now rather than have them spring a leak in a few months and go through this fiasco again. A word of advice to anyone thinking of replacing KH558 or KH559: Remove both from the truck while they are still joined together even if you are not actually replacing KH559. Over time these two pieces can become virtually glued together. I was unable to get them apart until they were off the truck and the force required to do so could have easily damaged the heater core had I done it on the vehicle. It's far easier to just disconnect KH559 from the heater core (even though it's a ***** to reach the quick connect).

I also relocated some wiring on the passenger side that was resting on the engine block. A few years ago I had some similarly placed wiring melt while I was 1,000 miles from home while on vacation. Luckily, the truck was able to limp to an auto parts store off the interstate that day. :p
