    X-Plan vs Negotiate

I just was given an X-Plan code this morning, I have no experience with Fords X-plan. It appears if you use this it becomes a no negotiation deal. Anyone who has been able to negotiate a better deal than X-plan can retrieve? In this market I am half thinking of using trying to negotiate first...

‘20 Platinum vs 22+ HO etc

Has anyone noticed a large material difference between the 400 horsepower EcoBoost in the OG Platinums and the newer 440 horsepower units or went from an 18-20 Platinum to a 22+ with the higher output motor? Just want to know if they feel pretty similar on the butt dyno.

Ford and GM threaten price gouging dealers

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2022/02/12/ford-gm-dealer-markups/ Interesting. Maybe your next 4th gen won’t be 20k over sticker…one could hope?

    A warning…

For those of you that recall I did a timing job to my 5.4 almost 2 years ago. I just wanted to let you all know the factory tensioners have failed again as of about 1.5 years of service and the chain slaps around very badly on startup. the truck going to the boneyard anyway because the...

    LS rear question

When looking, does HD tow ensure a limited slip specifically for the 2018 model year. My memory says yes but trying to narrow what vehicles to even consider. Absolutely need 4x4 Low range as well.

    Cost to rebuild rear end

Rear end is going out on my 2007, was only a matter of time I’ve been towing heavy weight with it like friggin crazy and it’s coming up on 210,000 miles. Locally there are no new Expeditions going for anything close to under MSRP and they won’t place an order for under msrp. GMC wants 3 grand...

2007 computer taking over and slamming brakes

Just as it says, driving straight down the road at 40 MPH my dash starts beeping, shows a sliding car, and my truck is slamming the brakes on its own. Thought it would clear but happened several more times on thruway. also can hear it running the ABS with that shaky sound and the brakes dragging...

Valve cover bolt sheered off in head

I noticed a little oil spot in the driveway after idling today and sourced it to the passenger side valve cover. I took my tiny ratchet to tighten the bolt and it sheared off in the head and now spins and comes out of its retainer. Taking the truck down to Florida and I don’t have time to fix...

    Nasty sound and light vibration

Slowing down from about 20 down to 5 MPH I have a nasty sound and the truck sounds like it’s falling apart underneath. It does not happen when going faster or when slower than these speeds. Only happens slowing between these speeds. Checked the rotors and pads tonight everything looks fine.

    Road trip prep

Thinking I’m going to take the old girl down with me to Florida in early May for vacation. Buffalo to Florida about 18 hours. What do you recommend I check before I go? Last year I did the oil pump, chain guides, tensioners, and torque converter. Would you replace the roller rockers before...

    Truck stuck in park

My 2007 EL keeps getting stuck in park. I’m going to have to leave it on the job site today after I am done because it will not get out of park not matter what I do. It started happening yesterday and now the shifter won’t move. Any ideas?

King Ranch stepping up market share

Not an Expy the but an interesting resurgence in the King Ranch name. Ford is offering for the first time ever a King Ranch model Explorer. For a little bit it looked like this trim level was going to die out with it leaving Expedition in 2018 but now it’s back in full force across the models...

    Starting the weekend off right

Got the Expedition stuck out in Amish country in a ditch going to a friends cabin. Went to pull off the road in what seemed to be a shoulder to enter an address into maps but it was actually a sharp ditch packed with snow. Truck went at a 45 and got stuck. Put it right into 4x4 Low and it moved...

Traction control light, wrench icon, nasty upshift

Driving earlier and my truck had a nasty upshift (felt like transmission slammed). Right before this the traction control light randomly started blinking even though roads are dry and clear. Then a wrench icon came up and the truck would not shift out of 3rd gear no matter what I did. After a...

    Snow driving observations

So I’m genuinely curious if anyone else has noticed this. When the road is super snowed up and icy has anyone else noticed braking in 4x4 High is better than in 2 high or 4x4 Auto? I’ve always subscribed to the theory 4WD only helps you accelerate but I’m noticing braking is better in 4x4 than...

    More 4x4 woes....

First snow and first time trying to use 4x4 since last year and it didn’t do crap. No codes, says it’s in 4x4. I haven’t used it in anything serious since I dropped the tranfer case off for the torque converter job so everything was disconnected. Vacuum system is working correctly on command...

New Melling oil pump for 3.5 Eco

Thought I’d pass this along, I used the Ford oil pump on my 5.4 and passed on the Melling but it’s supposed to be good. They recently came out with a new HV model for the 3.5 as some are starting to get up there in miles too. When you do the timing job on these it seems like a good idea to slip...

    Seat occasionally “rocking”?

Lately it seems like when I hit the gas pedal maybe 1 in 3 times the seat back moves slightly back on me like something is loose. Seems when I hit the brakes it comes forward a hair and back when I hit the gas. I looked under there but don’t really know what I’m looking at. Any ideas?

6 month update on my ‘07 EL!

....Since my DIY reman torque converter replacement (6R75) and my 5.4L timing chain guides, arms, tensioners, oil pump replacement. All work was done during the COVID shutdown to correct a P0741 (TC failure to lock) and a startup rattle. 6 months and about 11,000 miles later all is well in the...

Possible power train changes for ‘22?

Ford just updated the 3.5 EcoBoost and 5.0 V8 for the 2021 F-150. The 3.5 gets a new optional hybrid motor and the 5.0 now features cylinder deactivation and a 4 cylinder mode. Both have recieved new boosted power figures for the new generation trucks. New figures are: 5.0 - - 400...

Passenger mirror pops every time I hit unlock

2007 Eddie Bauer EL. Lately every time I unlock the truck from the key fob to get in the passenger mirror is popping. The Eddie Bauers have a memory function option that can be enabled with your fob with memory settings which I do have on. This makes it so if anyone else drive the truck the...

Can’t find transmission fluid leak, output shaft?

I keep finding transmission fluid on the driveway and the Y-pipe always has a drip on it.....pan is tight but it just keeps leaking. Happens when parked for an hour plus. It’ll be dry and about 2 hours later if parked and not started there will be a few drops on the ground. You’d think output...

    Cooled seat annoyance

So the bottom half of my cooled seat is not working and it’s starting to tick me off in the summer heat. The seat-back cools right off in a few seconds and the bottom does squat. Lights stay on. The TED blower is working at full speed and pushing cold air like it should but I’m sweating my nuts...

    Scotty reviews a 2007 Expedition

Sort of liked this video that came up today, thought I’d pass along. Hits some key points on why these old trucks can be a good deal. Funny, I knew what it was as soon as I saw the mirror in the thumbnail, guess I’m officially an Expedition nut:
