My granddads 07 and my 00 haulin about 5000lb (apiece) of shoelaces.

(Bad trailers made for a long night. Left Glennville GA at 6 pm to head to St Aug. FL and got back at 6 am the next day)

Here is a picture from last weekend, on our way to Niagara Falls from MA. First long trip towing with the Expedition, and it did great. I have to finish the math when I top off the truck, but it looks like it averaged around 13.5MPG towing ~3600# behind it, at 65MPH. That's better than I experience around town without a trailer.
